Great Changes for Great Beings

So, its been a really really long time since I’ve posted.

So I think because of this I’m going to take down the story and change the content of the site a bit until I think I’m ready to start posting the story. So for now, it’ll be little snippits of a story, like the halloween story that appeared a year ago, and doodles. I’ll slowly be removing the content from the site leaving only a few things on.

Expect sporadic posts here and there, but for now, Great Beings is taking a hiatus until further notice, I’m just ridiculously busy with school.

Thanks:

Jocey

Happy Halloween: with a side of news

Hello, long time no chat:

I’ve been busy with school and Great Beings has slowly been simmering in a pot while I’ve been studying like there is no tomorrow. I’ve mostly done a lot of GB related doodles that I might eventually post, but for now I do have a halloween pic.

This one goes to Genie, my best friend who also writes an all-ages comic called JGT.

Here we have Danny and Maia dressed up as Genie and Harry from JGT:

“Mama tried to help me with my costume. She helped me find the colors of the clothes and she helped me make the necklace.

I had called Lyall, Danny’s big sister, to see if he could dress up as Harry, the dorky raccoon from the story. She agreed with a joyful glee and then told me she would go look for his outfit.

Now I sat on a stool, with Mama trying to tame my wild curls so she could create Genie’s signature bun. She kept murmuring in Spanish, something about my curls not helping. My head was hurting from Mama pulling my hair, but I tried my best to keep still so she could work it out.

Then the doorbell rang, and Jamie, dressed up as a witch, answered the door. Jamie hollered and said that Danny had arrived. I could hear Mama sigh, and she said that this was the best she could do.

I had a messy curly bun with little curls sticking out, but it was perfect. I grabbed the purple quill pen and my scroll, Genie’s trademark weapons of choice, and adjusted my little squirrel ears and tail. Then I ran to greet Danny.

Danny looked perfect, he had the white lab coat and he had a mask painted on his face. He had even found ears and a tail that looked so authentic that it nagged a memory in the back of my mind. But I ignored it, excited that we looked just like Genie and Harry.

Mama said it was time to take a picture and she asked us to pose. I couldn’t see the pose Danny made, but I smiled big, thenΒ click,Β the memory was now forever captured on the film of the camera.

I smiled at Mama and at Danny and grabbed my trick-or-treat pillow case.

“Let’s go”

From Maia’s Halloween of 2005 (even though JGT did not exist at that time)

Maia and Danny are both 9 in this picture πŸ˜€

Anyways, I hope Genie enjoys this little picture and fanart.

Happy Halloween everybody!

Summer and beyond

Hey!

Lyall and doodles

On a side note, I have an awesome drawing tablet and a new program to color with, so illustrations galore.

So, I’m not dead. This year was incredibly busy for me. I applied to pharmacy school and then got into pharmacy school and I’m currently in pharmacy school. And because of that GB has greatly suffered.

At least part 1 is done.

Anyways, updates will probably continue to be incredibly sporadic. So until then, I might just use my site to post illustrations and other random stuff. Some relating to GB some unrelated to GB.

So bear with me until we can officially start part 2 and I hope you enjoy the doodles. I don’t know, some may come with a little story.

Until next time,

Jocey

Sorry!

Hello everybody.

I’m so sorry for the lack of updates. A lot of stuff ended up happening last week and that put me behind schedule. I’m pretty much caught up now, but no updates until next week so I can sit down and color what I need to color and dance around my schedule. For now, I think I’ll try and post on Thursday or Tuesday, since those are usually the days I don’t have much homework and it fits with my classes. The other thing I want to say is as it gets closer to October, my updates will be spotty. Even spottier than before. I will be taking a big step and start applying to pharmacy school. Gah…I’m so nervous about that.

So for now, enjoy this little doodle of Maia Meyer that I drew during my Animal Behavior lecture. I think she looks adorable in this picture πŸ™‚maiameyerThank you, and I’ll see you all later,

Jocey

School and Relationships

Allo!!

Tis Jocey here, so, I’m back in Flagstaff for school! WOO HOO! Which is the reason I’ve been pretty scarce again. I think on Friday I’ll post the cover for part 2! Which is pretty flippin exciting! It’ll probably not be colored (cause I’m working on a few bday cards haha)!

So I do have a little bit of information about the Great Being World. I’m going to share information about relationships in this world. (This information will not be too important in Jamie’s story, but it’s still important information because it tells you more about the Magic Council).

Magical Relationships

For most relationships, you are free to date whoever but certain relationships are highly looked down upon. For example, a Wizard (info page soon to come) is free to date Wizards, mortals, and Hunters (info page soon to come). But if a Wizard is dating a Shifter, it is highly looked down upon and seen as a taboo.

The reason it highly looked down upon is because of an old legend about an Angel and a Shifter who fell in love. Most of the legend was lost, but one thing that was remembered from the legend was that the abomination born from their relationship was neither an Angel nor a Shifter, but something that upset the balance. The ending of the legend was lost, but the Magic Council records show that the abomination, called a Harangel, was hunted down until it disappeared without a trace.

Because of this legend, mixed relationships were seen as something that could cause an Imbalance. For a couple to have a child, their relationship has to be approved by the Magic Council. If the Magic Council does not approve the couple then they are forced to separate. As long as the rules are met, most couples are approved.

Recently there has been a spur of intermixed couples. None of them have had been approved by the Magic Council and the couples refused to break up. Many of them retreating to the Nomadic Council. The reason for this is that Nomadic Council is not afraid of change. Although, for the intermixed couples, the stigma of having a child that could be an abomination makes them fear having a child.

When a magical person has a relationship with a mortal, magic is only passed down to the oldest child. The second child is gifted with the Sight. Most relationships with mortals does not last long as many mortals cannot handle the idea of magic.

So I think that’s pretty much it for now. I promise to turn all these into info pages when I get a chance. I finally have unlimited access to a scanner, so it shouldn’t take as long now.

School starts next week!

And that’s about all I have for you all.

I’ll see you on Friday

The Two Councils and a little update

Yo-o!

Jocey her, sorry for the extended absence, had a bit of a laptop scare. I thought something was wrong with my mac (thank Anima there’s nothing wrong with my laptop) and I had it checked out. The good news: my trackpad isn’t broken and I don’t need it to get replaced! The bad news: It kept me from working on things for you all.

But I do have some awesome news for you guys, some relating to this story and some relating to my best friends Genie’s webcomic: JGT. The best awesome news, we have decided to move the site to a webcomic hosting site! So as of yesterday we have guided JGT to ComicFury! If you are curious in the wacky and exciting adventures of three squirrel girls, well the story is starting from the beginning. And in COLOR! The original 8 chapters + the mini chapter are going to be colored (not redone cause that would take ages to redraw and recolor) and posted on our new site! Go check out our new site for JGT–>here

Now for my other awesome news: I’m going to release a little bit of news about the Magic Council and the Nomadic Council.

After the Imbalance of the second Host the Magic Council was formed. They were formed of like minded Magical people who wanted order within the world. They had started by controlling legends that caused vast violence among mortals and magical people alike. They began in China, but moved to the vanishing island home of the second host, so none of their enemies could find them. The Magic Council begun to set rules for the people that joined the Council, rules that did not allow different Magical beings to intermarry, like Shifters could not marry or have children with Wizards. Their power grew over the years, gaining more members and getting more control over the legends.

There was a country had declared themselves independent from the Magic Council. This country was hated by the Magic Council, but the country had enough magic and power to protect themselves. This country then became the home to the next two hosts of the Ancient One, and the country was able to protect themselves for longer as the Ancient One called that country home. After the fourth Imbalance, the country was in danger as many of the more powerful beings had died of old age. They were run out of their country and the few that survived the wrath of the Magic Council escaped to the United States as the Magic Council was still populating the country.

The escapees escaped to California and they formed an alliance with the tribes that did not want to be a part of the Magic Council. They decided to call themselves the Nomadic Council. They sent a message across the United States, saying that if people wanted to be free of the Magic Council to come to California.

When the Magic Council heard of the creation of Nomadic Council. They devised a way to end the Nomadic Council, but there was a surprising amount of distrust among the Magic Council when a prominent member of the Magic Council left to join the Nomadic Council. Another problem the Magic Council faced was that they could not cause another Revolution in the United States.

The Nomadic Council took this as an opportunity to devise a treaty with the Magic Council and they forced the Magic Council to declare peace for the sake of the United States. The Nomadic Council became a refuge for escapees who wanted to get away from the Magic Council and people were also able to declare themselves independent as long as they abided by a few rules set by the Nomadic Council.

So this is the little brief description about the two Councils. I hope it’s not too confusing!

Now next week I’ll post the things that were meant to be posted for this week. Also, on Tuesday! Check out Genie’s new website as it the day we will officially launch!!

I’ll see you all next week,

Jocey

Lyall Townhell and Shifters

Hello everybody!!

I have finished taking the PCAT! Huzzah! That’s about all I can say about it. But IT IS DONE!!! OMIGOSH SO HAPPY I FINISHED TAKING THAT EXAM!

So here is the page that I’ve had sitting on my desktop for the past two months: The shifter page guest starring my favorite shifter Lyall.

Shifterinfopage

So this is the page (and my first attempt at coloring a wolf and lining a wolf, and man was that difficult… But here it is!! Here is a curious fact about Lyall and Danny, while most shifters have hair colors that match in some way the fur color of their Animal Form, Lyall and Danny does not match. The only exception of matching is the curious grey streaks they both have. Another side note, Lyall’s wierd grey eye is not possible for Shifters. So have some food for thought πŸ˜‰

I also want to post this cause it has Lyall and I had so much fun coloring and drawing this:

In the Night

So I guess technically this counts as a wallpaper o.O…well the reason its Lyall and not Jamie is cause this picture is my new phone case!!! Well, part of the picture haha! I fel like sharing it with you guys, so enjoy!!

That’s all I got to say for today! And next week will be a bit funky as my boyfriend is in town and I start working (working is different than going) ComicCon!

Danny Townhell has a lot to say

Yo-o!
So Danny has like the longest character page. I had to make his text small so I could fit it all in the box haha. Well, thats cause we probably won’t get to hear Danny’s backstory in the story as much (unless I do a short story with Maia and Danny, which is pretty likely). Danny is one of my favorite Minor characters so I’m extremely pleases to share him with you all :).

DannycharacpageSo here is Daniel ‘Danny’ Townhell. So, the elementary school Maia and Danny go to is in Rancho Mesa while the middle school Jamie and Lyall go to is in Forest Ranch. The elementary school is about 5 minutes away from the middle school, on the border between Rancho Mesa and Forest Ranch.Β

So next week I’m posting the only thing info page I have finished. So be ready. I’ll be pretty scarce next week since I have a big exam (PCAT T_T) so, wish me luck haha!

Well, that’s all I gotta say! See ya next week!!

How Magic Works

Allo!

So unfortunately, I don’t have the line-art for Danny’s character page finished cause I suck, so instead I did this little mini picture to the right so I can teach you about the Hierarchy of Magic, cause that’s not getting a fancy info page quite yet.

So let’s get started!

So Earth of the First Dimension (our Earth, to a certain extent) was the first planet Anima gave life to. And the Gods helped create what magic would like. The way Magic works on Earth is known as the Hierarchy of Magic. The simple skeleton of the Hierarchy is the basis for magic on all the other Dimensions. Although each individual Dimensions has some adjustments to how their magic works.

So Magic starts with Space and Time which then leads to Light and Darkness, the purest of energies. From there Light differentiates into Fire and Earth, while Darkness differentiates into Water and Air. And Light and Darkness meshed together to create Shifters. Shifters are magic-less because the combination of the two pure energies cancelled out and instead the beings took the shape of humans with animal features, and their magic is the ability to shift into their animal form.

Water and Air combined to make Ice while Earth and Fire combined to make Lava (originally Ash, but Ash has too many Air attributes to it, so I had to change it).

This is the basic skeleton of Magic, or the Hierarchy of Magic. There are certain divisions to each part of magic, like plants and trees fall Earth because they grow from the Earth.

Now every other Dimension has the same Hierarchy although with certain changes and rules. For example there are some planets that completely focus on just one aspect of the Hierarchy. There are planets that just have Fire, while there are planets that focus on just Space and Time.

Now there are some special planets that break some of the rules and have their own individual rules. I won’t mention those, but I’ll let you know a little secret. The place where the Ancient One comes from is a special planet.

I think I’ve covered the basics for now. We’ll learn the some of the beings that use magic next week (and I’ll try to whip up an actual info page for the Hierarchy of Magic).

Anima

Allo everybody!

Huzzah I’m on time πŸ™‚ So today’s information page is Anima. Anima is kind of essential part of the story mainly because Jamie is traversing through the Space between Worlds and even though Ancient One has that ability, it seems likes she still falls asleep whenever she goes through that space. Why?

I felt like these first two information pages were kind of necessary mainly because now we are slightly familiar with the Gods who created everything. Now for next week I want to go into the Hierarchy of Magic (which will involve fancy charts) and a little introduction to Shifters! I’m going to try to post more next week because I won’t be posting much or anything at all the week I have to take PCAT. So hopefully I’ll have lots to post for you all next week to make up for it. Unfortunately, the only documents about the Great War are still written in the Godly Language, I’ll try to come up with an info page for the Great War with whatever I can translate for you guys.

The Goddess of Creation: Anima

The Goddess of Creation: Anima

So, this is Anima, we don’t get to see her face mainly because I don’t want you guys to see her well. She’s supposed to wearing the space, or at least it supposed to like that to a certain extent. And instead of pupils she has the sign for Anima as her pupils. Now, the curl she has in her hair, just remember it for future reference.

Well that’s all I have for now,

-Jocey
